Dear Colleagues,
It is our great pleasure, on behalf of the EuroMed2026 Organising Committee, to welcome you to the 20th Anniversary of the Euro-Mediterranean Conference on Digital Cultural Heritage.
For two decades (2006-2026), EuroMed has provided an international forum where researchers, cultural heritage professionals, museums and memory institutions, technology experts, industry, educators and policymakers come together to exchange knowledge and shape the future of Digital Cultural Heritage.
This anniversary is therefore much more than a celebration. It is an opportunity to reflect on twenty years of technological and scientific evolution and to look towards the next decades.

EuroMed2026: An Inter- and Multidisciplinary Vision
From the Digital Twin towards the MemoryTwin
The EuroMed2026 thematic areas reflect the breadth and maturity of Digital Cultural Heritage today, covering the documentation, recording, modelling, analysis, interpretation, preservation, conservation, management, dissemination and sustainable use of both tangible and intangible Cultural Heritage.
Our challenge is no longer simply to create accurate digital representations of heritage, but to connect them with knowledge, history, values, identity, stories and human experience. This opens the way from the Digital Twin towards the MemoryTwin, from representing what heritage is to preserving and understanding what it has experienced and what it means to people and communities.
EuroMed2026 also emphasises the emerging Circular Economy of Knowledge in Cultural Heritage documentation, where high-quality digital data, documentation, models and knowledge are not created for one-time use, but are continuously reused, enriched, connected and repurposed across research, conservation, education, innovation, policy and public engagement.

This Call for Participation invites high-quality contributions that address critical challenges and emerging opportunities across the full lifecycle of cultural heritage—from acquisition and knowledge modelling to immersive dissemination and protection against illicit activities.

High-Quality Holistic Data Acquisition in Cultural Heritage
High-quality data acquisition constitutes the foundation of all digital cultural heritage processes. This topic focuses on comprehensive and integrated approaches for capturing cultural assets, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and long-term usability.

Knowledge Management Systems & Knowledge Graphs in Digital Cultural Heritage
The increasing complexity and volume of cultural heritage data demand advanced knowledge management approaches. This topic explores intelligent systems that enable structured representation, semantic enrichment, and meaningful exploitation of cultural heritage information.

The “Metaverse”, Persistent Virtual Worlds, VR, MR & XR Applications in Digital Cultural Heritage
Transferring the Message to a Multidisciplinary User Community
Immersive technologies are redefining how cultural heritage is experienced, understood, and communicated. This topic focuses on innovative XR applications and the so-called “Metaverse” which bridges research, education, and public engagement. How can people learn from the Past?

Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Heritage & the Role of Digital Technologies
The illicit trafficking of cultural heritage remains a major global challenge. Digital technologies offer powerful tools to document, trace, protect, and support the recovery of cultural assets. Publication
Published by Springer Verlag in LNCS
All the papers will be published by Springer Verlag in LNCS. The 10 best submitted papers will be published in a special issue of an International Journal on Digital Heritage.
All accepted papers that successfully pass the peer-review process will be included in the conference proceedings, published in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series by Springer Nature.
